Kylei Noel (Strub) Seastrom
On Wednesday, February 17, 2021, Kylei Noel Seastrom passed away at the age of 31. She was born on March 11, 1989 in Anchorage, Alaska to Charles and LuVena Strub (Sanchez). Kylei later moved to Washington and attended AG West Black Hills High School in Tumwater, graduating in the class of 2007.
Though Kylei lived in Olympia, she always considered Anchorage her hometown. She had an Alaskan spirit that manifested itself throughout her life and was demonstrated by her belief that she could (and did) do anything she set her mind to—from art to welding.
Kylei was known for her smile, laugh, charm, and wit. Importantly, she was a compassionate crusader for justice and equality. She was a small but tenacious rugby player and an avid music aficionado with a passion for the live music scene.
Kylei had a tender, radiant, joyful soul. She believed the good that was in her was also in others. She loved people, and they loved her right back. This led to her working in the hospitality and assisted living care industries. These jobs brought her in contact with many folks from all walks of life who ultimately became indispensable friends.
Kylei and Matt Seastrom married in 2012, and though they later divorced, the two stayed in touch and remained good friends.
Kylei was a lover of animals and happiest outdoors: hiking, camping, backpacking, and soaking up sunrise summits. She was exceptionally creative—designing art, clothes, costumes, and thoughtful gifts with care and ease. She was a natural born traveler whose wanderlust held no geographical boundaries.
Kylei channeled some part of the universe that most of us aren’t attuned to. She waged happiness, and we will miss that deeply. Our gratitude for the knowing and loving of her is what will eventually outweigh the dark mist of inconsolate grief that comes when a life has ended too soon.
Kylei is survived by a large family who loved her dearly: mother LuVena (Beanie) Sanchez, father Charles Strub, brother Shane Strub, sister Lindsey Lea, stepmother Becky Strub, stepbrother Cross Harris, nieces Madison Lea and Dahlia Strub, nephews Weston Lea and Kingston Strub, along with many aunts and uncles, and over a hundred beloved cousins.
